Qualitative Research

Uncovering User Motivations with User Interviews

By choosing qualitative research after quantitative research, I'm able to uncover user motivations, gain contextual understanding, identify emerging themes, inform user personas, validate quantitative findings, and prepare for usability testing – ultimately leading to a more comprehensive and user-centered design solution.

USER PERSONA

Empathy and Understanding: Empathy and Understanding

Creating user personas allowed me to develop empathy and understanding for the users, which is essential for designing a successful application. By walking in their shoes, I could create an app that would genuinely improve their lives.

DEFINE AND IDEATION

From Structure to Visuals:  Ideation & Design

By using the Crazy 8's technique, we've quickly generated a variety of ideas and identified promising directions for the BodyCraft app. This approach ensured we're considering innovative solutions while staying focused on our core user needs and problem statement.

LOW FIDELITY TESTING

Integrating Components:  Design and Code

Established clear guidelines for implementation, making it easy for teams to integrate the components into their work. By taking the time to thoroughly integrate our components into the library.

Usability chart helped me identify areas for improvement and features that are working well in the low fidelity design:
Reorder booking customization: While the reorder feature is appreciated, we could enhance it by: Adding an easy modification option for repeat bookings.
Browsing services: Users spent 3 minutes browsing and commented on the need to scroll a lot. We could:
Implement better categorization and filtering options for services
Use a tab-based layout to display services more efficiently

REFLECTION

Challenges, Solutions, and Successes: Reflective Look

As I reflected on this project, I realized that user-centered design is not just a methodology, but a mindset. I learned to put users at the forefront of every decision, to empathize with their struggles, and to iterate tirelessly towards a solution that truly meets their needs. Through this journey, I discovered the power of diverse user testing, the importance of challenging assumptions, and the value of continuous refinement.

User-Centered Approach

  • Understanding user frustrations led to innovative solutions like one-tap rebooking.
  • Addressing diverse user needs: By creating personas and conducting in-depth interviews.

Power of Usability Testing

  • Multiple rounds of testing allowed us to identify and address usability issues, resulting in significant improvements.
  • User feedback helped prioritize features like saved payment methods.

Overcoming Bias

  • Ensuring a varied group of testers helped identify biases in initial designs and assumptions.
  • Regular team discussions about user feedback helped identify and address any preconceived notions about user behavior or preferences.

Continous Improvements

  • Establishing a system for ongoing user feedback allows for continuous refinement of the app post-launch.
  • Creating a prioritized list of potential future features based on user suggestions ensures the app evolves with user needs.
Thank you for making it to the end!
